The City of Winooski is improving the roadway along the Main Street (U.S. 2/7) corridor. The construction of the Winooski Main Street Revitalization project is expected to span three construction seasons, from the spring of 2024 to the summer of 2026. During construction, Main Street will be reduced to a single northbound lane 24/7, with southbound traffic detoured to Weaver Street. There will also be instances of short temporary side road closures with detours and single-lane closures with alternating one-way traffic. The project includes:

• the installation of pedestrian and bicycle facilities
• upgrades to traffic signal equipment
• enhancements to roadway aesthetics such as street lighting and landscaping
• new stormwater infrastructure
• sewer and water utilities
• the relocation of existing aerial power and telecommunication lines underground
