Winooski Strong

The Winooski Strong campaign began in 2020 as an initiative to raise funds and awareness for anti-racism in Winooski and beyond. It was founded by volunteers but supported by a large number of Winooski businesses and organizations who care deeply about showing support for racial unity, representation, visibility, and equity. Downtown Winooski served as the fiscal agent for Winooski Strong until 2026, when we became the full host for the campaign. A mainstay of the campaign has been the popular Winooski Strong merchandise, proceeds from which are donated to local social justice initiatives.

Winooski Strong exists thanks to the collective support of many individuals, organizations and businesses in and around Winooski, VT who aim to make our community and world a better place. We are proud that Winooski is the most diverse city in the state and we care deeply about supporting missions focused on racial unity, representation, visibility and equity. Eliminating inequities is crucial to creating the kind of future we all seek and we are dedicated to building a just and sustainable future for all people, and the planet.

Beneficiaries

In its current form, Winooski Strong proceeds are distributed yearly on a tiered system based on the amount of money raised after operating costs (merch printing costs, processing fees, etc).

$1 - $500: Winooski Juneteenth & Pride

Money raised will benefit the Winooski Juneteenth and Pride celebrations, which celebrate diversity in our community. This helps cover costs such as offering free activities and refreshments or hiring diverse performers.

$501 - $1000: Winooski School District Necessity Store

Money raised will be donated to the Winooski School District Necessity Store, a resource hub filled with food, hygiene products, clothing, and winter gear, both purchased and donated. The Necessity Store helps students in our diverse school district whose families are not always able to buy items like winter clothing and food.
