Urban Oasis

Get Away for the Day in Winooski

After a long week, it’s time to hit the pavement for a day trip to Vermont’s urban oasis: Winooski. Are you ready for great food, relaxing vibes, and a night on the town? Let’s go!

Saturday, 9am:

We can’t think of a better start to the day than a signature Winooski breakfast from Morning Light Bakery, complete with egg tart and bubble tea. Nothing says “urban oasis” quite like a gorgeous park amid the downtown traffic circle, so grab your favorite buns and head straight to Rotary Park for a picnic.

Saturday, 10am:

Fueled up, it’s time for a gorgeous hike through the Casavant Nature Area. Whether walking or running is your speed, Casavant is a great place to be. Winter welcomes cross-country skiers to the spot, while summer is a great time for birdwatching. Enter near the waterfront or on E. Allen St. and explore over 100 acres in whatever style you choose.

Saturday, 12pm:

After working up an appetite on the trail, make your way to Sarom’s Café for lunch, stopping to admire the incredible mural by Juniper Creative on the building’s façade. Enjoy a calm, stylish atmosphere and a delicious bánh mì.

Saturday, 1pm:

Venture over to Main St. for a relaxing afternoon at Heavenly Beauty Spa for a mani-pedi, wax, or cut. With vegan, gentlemen’s, and kids’ offerings on the menu, anyone can enjoy a little mid-day pampering. You’re sure to come out refreshed and ready for a night on the town!

Saturday, 3pm:

After some self care, it’s time to finish out the day back at the Rotary. Stop in at Standing Stone Wines to sample a flight and take home a budget bottle for next weekend. Then, make sure to head around the corner to Golden Hour Gift Co. to find the perfect souvenir. Maybe even stop in and talk to the awesome folks at Aartistic Inc. to plan a tattoo for your next visit!

Saturday, 5pm:

When you’re treating yourself in the Onion City, it only makes sense to have dinner at Onion City Chicken and Oyster. Enjoy the delectable namesake dinner options with a fabulous view of downtown Winooski from uphill.

Saturday, 7pm:

Unwind after dinner with a gorgeous sunset view from Winooski Falls Park near the Burlington-Winooski bridge. Take up root on the swinging bench and enjoy a moment of quiet as you look out over the majestic Winooski river.

Saturday, 8pm:

When you’re ready for a little more noise, head back into the Rotary to end the evening at Monkey House. Catch a local or touring music act, enjoy a tasty cocktail, and play some pool among friendly locals and the smell of delicious in-house pizza. A perfect end to a lovely day in Winooski!

Bon Voyage! See you again soon.
